Hop onboard a Porsche 911 GT3 RS for a Nurburgring Hot lap

We often see the guys at Sport Auto take the latest supercars to Hockenheim for a hot lap session. This time, they got their hands on a 2023 Porsche 911 GT3 RS. So, what better track to set a lap time on than the Nurburgring Nordschleife.

Sport Auto test driver Christian Gebhardt took the 911 GT3 RS to the Ring, with the hopes of setting a quick lap time. Well, that’s what he did. Christian completed a lap of the 14-mile strip of tarmac in 6 min 54.99 seconds. That’s 1.5 seconds quicker than the previous GT3 RS.

Now, last year, Porsche’s official test driver recorded a lap time of 6 min 49 seconds. This means, Christian needs to find at least 5 seconds to beat Jörg Bergmeister’s time.

The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS is powered by a 4.0-liter, naturally aspirated flat-6 engine that makes 525 hp. The engine is mated to a 7-speed PDK, enabling the car to reach 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds. Its top speed is 184 mph.
