Hennessey Venom F5 Top Speed run confirmed for February 15
Update: Hennessey has since deleted the comment confirming the speed run on Instagram. Here’s a screenshot of the original comment.
Hennessey Performance has just confirmed that the Venom F5 will attempt to set a new production car top speed record on February 15, 2022.
The Texas-based tuning company is gunning for the coveted 300+ mph record. The bar was set by the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ in September 2019. The Venom F5 needs to beat 304.77 mph to claim the title.
According to Hennessey, their internal simulations show that the car is capable of reaching speeds in excess of 311 mph. If that is the case, then the Venom F5 would breeze past Bugatti’s record. Either way, we will get to know about it come Tuesday.
The Venom F5 is powered by a 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The motor develops 1817 hp @ 8000 rpm and 1,193 lb-ft @ 5000 rpm and is paired with a semi-automatic single-clutch transmission that drives the rear wheels. As we’ve seen in an earlier video posted by the company, the ‘F5’ mode unlocks the full potential of that massive engine.
Meanwhile, Hennessey has also opened the order books for the Venom F5 Roadster.
