Hennessey Venom F5 sprints to 219 mph in 1/2 mile; Beats Bugatti & Rimac
The Hennessey Venom F5 was at the Kennedy Space Centre to test a new aerodynamics package. It did not go well, as the driver lost control at over 200 mph.
The Venom F5 was back at the runway, once used by NASA to land the Space Shuttle. This time, the hypercar was able to beat the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport and Rimac Nevera to the 1/2 mile.
With none other than John Hennessey at the wheel, the Venom F5 clocked 219.07 mph in the standing half mile. That’s 13 mph faster than the Rimac Nevera and 26 mph quicker than the Chiron Super Sport.
Earlier this year, the Venom F5 completed a lap of the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, TX, in a record 2 min 10.9 seconds, beating the best time set by the McLaren P1 by 7 seconds.
The Venom F5 is powered by a 6.6-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that develops 1817 hp @ 8,000 rpm and 1,193 lb-ft of torque @ 5,000 rpm. Power is sent to the rear axle via a single-clutch semi-automatic transmission.
