GMA T.50S Niki Lauda track hypercar makes dynamic debut at Goodwood
Gordon Murray Automotive unveiled the track-focused T.50S Niki Lauda back in 2021. Since then, the company has been busy putting some final touches before it goes into production. The track hypercar was recently showcased at the 81st Goodwood Members’ Meeting.
The video shows the T.50S Niki Lauda XP1 prototype lapping the racetrack with Dario Franchitti at the wheel. A sedate warm-up lap was followed by a hot lap, stretching the legs of the Cosworth-developed naturally aspirated V12 engine.
The 3.9-liter engine pumps out 711 hp @11500 rpm and 358 lb-ft @ 9000 rpm and is paired with a 6-speed paddle shift gearbox. The T.50s Niki Lauda weighs just 852 kg, resulting in a power-to-weight ratio of 835 hp/tonne!
The T.50s Niki Lauda features a unique aerodynamics package with a prominent splitter at the front, canards on the sides and a large fixed wing with a shark fin at the rear. It even has a RAM air scoop and new side skirts with massive vents. The revised aero helps create 1500 kg of downforce. Besides that, it also has a 400 mm ground-effect fan that spins at 7000 rpm to suck the car to the ground.
Only 25 units of the T.50S Niki Lauda will be produced.
