Ford Mustang GT gets 700 Hp R2650 Supercharger Kit from Roush and Ford Performance

Ford Performance and Roush team up to offer the R2650 Supercharger Kit which will boost the Ford Mustang GT’s power to 700 hp. Should Shelby GT500 owners be worried?

The 2020 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 belts out power in excess of 700 hp. Jealous but not affluent enough to buy the GT500? The solution is right around the corner as Ford Performance and Roush has joined forces to develop and sell the R2650 Supercharger Kit which kicks up the standard 2018-19 Ford Mustang GT’s power to GT500 territory and that too for a reasonable sum of $7,699.

Need more good news to bring a smile on that face? The R2650 Supercharger Kit is street-legal in all 50 states in the US and if installed by a Ford dealer or an Automotive Service Excellence-certified technician, a three-year, 36,000-mile warranty will be honored. Installation is expected to take 12 hours.

Ford Mustang GT Roush 700 Hp Supercharger Kit

Made exclusively for the Ford Mustang GT’s 5.0-liter naturally-aspirated V8, the R2650 Supercharger Kit will appeal to all those Mustang customers (existing and new) who aspire to be in the same league as the Shelby GT500. While the Mustang GT engine in standard guise produces a healthy 435 hp of power and 400 lb-ft of torque, there is a large number of Mustang owners who could use a massive boost in power and torque.

Once installed, the R2650 Supercharger Kit with its 2.65-liter prime displacement, force feeds compressed air into the engine at 12 PSI, generating 700 hp of max power and 610 lb-ft of peak torque.

Quick note. The kit which comprises of the supercharger unit along with a dozen other components needed to ensure that the muscle car copes with the new level of tuning, can’t be installed in the BULLITT edition Mustangs. Sample applies to Euro-spec versions too.
