Porsche 911 R spotted in Monaco

If it’s exclusive and expensive, you will find it in Monaco. The new Porsche 911 R fits the criteria and it is no surprise that the first 911 Rs were spotted in town.

It is still too early for customer 911 Rs to arrive and hence we suspect these could be either test mules or could be here for promotional purposes. After all, Monaco is one of the key markets limited edition cars like the Porsche 911 R.

The Porsche 911 R was announced at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show and it clearly took the world by surprise. We were expecting something more hardcore than the GT3. However, the 911 R turned out to be a GT3 with manual gearbox wrapped inCarrera bodywork and GT3 wheels.

The engine is from the GT3 as well. A 4.0-liter flat-six, naturally aspirated engine which makes 500 hp and a peak torque of 338 lb-ft. 0-60 mph is over in just 3.7 sec and the 911 R can hit a top speed of 200 mph. Only 991 examples will be built with a price tag just under $200,000.
