Ferrari Roma Spider secretly testing in the dead of the night in Maranello

The Ferrari Portofino M is currently the entry-level convertible model in Maranello’s range of offerings. While there were rumours of a Roma Spider, Ferrari never acknowledged them. Little did we know that prototypes were being readied behind the scenes.

The latest video by Varryx shows a Roma Spider prototype exiting the Maranello factory at 2 am. It seems Ferrari has been testing the car in secret away from prying eyes all this while.

The convertible Roma is likely to feature the same 3.9-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 motor that pumps out 611 hp @ 5750-7500 rpm and 560 lb-ft @ 3000-5750 rpm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which sends power to the rear wheels via an electronic differential.

The Spider though, is expected to be slightly heavier, which could affect its performance. Expect it to be around 0.1-0.2 seconds slower to 62 mph compared to the coupe.
