Ferrari charges $1 million for a replacement LaFerrari carbon monocoque!
Imagine for a moment that you own a LaFerrari. You take it out for a weekend drive, but the weather isn’t great. You lose control and crash into a wall. Now, if you own a hypercar, you most likely have the means to repair it. However, what if you damage its carbon fibre monocoque in the accident? Well, that’s going to be one heck of a dent in your pocket.
According to Scuderia Car Parts, a replacement monocoque for a LaFerrari costs $1 million. That’s about 3/4 of its actual base price! Scroll through their parts catalogue, and you will find that a replacement roof costs $140,645, while the rear bulkhead and front subframe cost $28,295 and $12,372, respectively. Heck, a single titanium screw costs $71.40!
The LaFerrari went into production in 2013. Since then, Ferrari has produced 499 examples with a base price of around $1.5 million. That being said, prices have more than doubled in recent times, as it’s one of the most sought-after hypercars among collectors.
Powered by a 6.3-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine, the LaFerrari was Maranello’s first hybrid hypercar. The internal combustion engine produces 789 hp, while the electric motor adds another 161 hp for a combined output of 950 hp and 664 lb-ft. This rear-wheel drive prancing horse is capable of sprinting from 0-62 mph in under 3 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph.
