Ferrari California T launched in Hong Kong
Ferrari has launched the new California T in Hong Kong. The South East Asian port city is one of the wealthiest in the area and a huge market for niche brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini and Rolls Royce among others. In the hometown of Hollywood star Jackie Chan, the launch of the California T comes just months after its global debut. Ferrari plans to bring a limited number of California T convertibles to HK and the first batch has been already sold out. Also, the Ferrari California T priced at USD 456,000 (in HK dollar), it doesn’t come cheap.
The Ferrari California T replaces the old California convertible which has been the entry-level Ferrari model for all these years. The new model tries to elevate itself from being the cheapest Ferrari to being a stylish, modern and sporty grand tourer. Under the skin is a front-mounted 3.8-liter V-8 with twin-turbochargers for the first time. The engine generates 560 hp @ 7500 rpm and delivers it to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. The car can accelerate from 0-100 kph in just 3.6 seconds and has a top speed of 316 kph.
The styling of the new Ferrari California T has been thoroughly revised both inside and on the exterior. Newest elements from Ferrari design are evident in the exterior. Unique headlights with LED daytime running lights and round tail lamps that protrude out of the body work look sporty yet elegant. The long hood and short overhangs with swooping lines give the California T a dynamic appearance. The interior gets additional equipment including a touch-screen boost gauge and more.
