Ferrari to Auction 500th LaFerrari, Donate Proceeds to Italian Earthquake Victims
Ferrari will build 500th LaFerrari to aid victims of the recent earthquake that struck central Italy. The production of the LaFerrari was limited t 499 units, but the company has decided to make an exception for the good cause.
Ferrari boss, Sergio Marchionne told Road & Track, that the 500th LaFerrari will be auctioned and the proceeds will be donated to aid the victims of the earthquake.
Central Italy was struck by a devastating 6.2 magnitude earthquake on Aug 24, 2016. Close to 300 people are believed to have lost their lives. A majority were from the town of Amatrice which was the epicenter of the quake.
Although, Ferrari has suspended the production of the LaFerrari, they are still building the limited edition LaFerrari Spider. Both the coupe and spider are technically identical. They’re powered by a V12 engine coupled to electric motors that boost performance.
