Ferrari 812 GTO to get a race-derived V12 engine? (Update)
Update: These are rumors are false. Risi Competizione was not involved in the development of the 812 GTO’s engine.
Since we’ve already seen a few revealing spy images of the Ferrari 812 GTO / Imola, we now have a rough idea of what the car might look like. Our sources have told us that it will get an advanced aerodynamics package inspired by the 599XX race car.
Speaking of race cars, latest rumors suggest that the 812 GTO will be powered by a race-derived V12 engine. It is said that the 6.5-liter, naturally aspirated motor has been developed by Risi Competizione – a renowned Ferrari racing team. The engine could produce around 878 hp and 664 lb-ft of torque and is likely to be paired with a new transmission and an F1 differential.
The car is likely to be named the 812 Imola and will be offered in two body styles – Coupe and Aperta. The latter will be the more exclusive of the two and will only be offered to Ferrari’s “VIP clients”.
It is said that there will be two types of liveries on offer – transverse and longitudinal. Just like the 488 Pista, the 812 Imola will also get optional carbon wheels.
Ferrari is expected to unveil the 812 GTO / Imola on April 21.
