Exclusive! Maserati will show the MC20 GT2 Stradale this year
The Maserati MC20 GT2 race car made its debut at the 24 Hours of Spa last year. Based on the MC20 mid-engined supercar, it will take part in the final rounds of the 2024 Fanatec GT European Series.
We’ve just learnt that Maserati plans to launch a road-legal version of the MC20 race car. According to our sources, the MC20 GT2 Stradale will be revealed later this year.
While details are scarce, we can expect the Stradale, which literally translates to the “road” version, to share several components with the GT2 race car. It is likely to be the most hardcore version of the MC20 with a number plate.
The MC20 GT2 Stradale will most likely get a few modifications, both inside and out, aimed at making it more usable on public roads. The extreme aero could be toned down a bit, while the suspension would be raised to allow it to go over speed bumps.
Inside, the Stradale could get better soundproofing, lightweight bucket seats, and roll-down windows, along with air-conditioning, which is already available in the race car.
Coming to the engine, the GT2 uses the same 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V6 as the standard MC20. It produces 621 hp @ 7500 rpm and 538 lb-ft of torque all the way from 3000 rpm. The Stradale version is expected to be no different.
