Exclusive: Koenigsegg Special Track Car could be inspired by Le Mans

In August 2019, we had reported that Koenigsegg was building a limited edition track car. Sources have now confirmed that the project has been given the go ahead.

It is said to have several code names, including ‘LM’. We have also learnt that Koenigsegg is planning to build anywhere between 7 and 11 units of the track hypercar. It is also expected to be the most expensive Koenigsegg till date.

We have further confirmation through sources that the car was indeed revealed to VIP customers through a VR presentation during the 2019 Pebble Beach event.

Having said that, technical details of the Koenigsegg track car are still unknown. If we had to hazard a guess, we’d say the track could be based on the Jesko. We have already seen two variations of the Jesko – the regular car and the Jesko Absolut that is built for outright speed. A purpose built track weapon based on the same platform seems like the logical step forward.

Now, the Jesko is powered by a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 that has a peak output of 1600 hp and 1106 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with a 9-speed transmission. We will have to wait and see if the same engine will be offered in the track car.
