Exclusive! GMA T.50S Niki Lauda prototype to be showcased at The Quail
It’s been two years since Gordon Murray Automotive unveiled the GMA T.50S Niki Lauda – a track-focused supercar based on the GMA T.50. Now, according to our sources, the first prototype of the car will be showcased at ‘The Quail’ during the 2023 Monterey Car Week.
The T.50S Niki Lauda is a 2-seater with a centrally-positioned driver’s seat and a race-oriented cockpit. It features a completely new aerodynamics package with a prominent splitter at the front, canards on the sides and a large fixed wing with a shark fin at the rear. It even has a RAM air scoop and new side skirts with massive vents.
The most unique feature of this car though, is its 400 mm ground-effect fan. The rear-mounted fan spins at 7000 rpm to suck the car to the ground. Together with the updated aero, the GMA T.50S Niki Lauda is said to generate 1500 kg of downforce.
This track supercar is powered by a 3.9-litre, naturally aspirated V12 engine that puts out 711 hp @11500 rpm and 358 lb-ft @ 9000 rpm. The engine drives the rear wheels via a 6-speed paddle shift gearbox. The T.50s Niki Lauda weighs just 852 kg and has a power-to-weight ratio of 835 hp/tonne!
