Exclusive: Bugatti Chiron R Spotted ahead of its Geneva Debut
The Chiron R is headed for Geneva.
Last month, Bugatti had posted a teaser image of an upcoming model on their Instagram. Back then, we could only speculate as to what it might be.
As promised, we can now tell you more about the new Bugatti. Our sources have found out that Bugatti will be unveiling a new version of the Chiron at the 2020 Geneva Motor Show. It’s called the Chiron R.
The Chiron R is expected to be positioned between the Chiron Sport and the Super Sport 300+. The spy images indicate that it could get a fixed rear spoiler, which suggests that the car could be tuned for handling than outright speed. While the revised aerodynamics package is likely to increase downforce, it could affect the top speed of the car.
We still don’t know whether the Chiron R will get the souped-up 8.0-liter W16 engine from the record-breaking Chiron SS 300+. However, it is more likely to get the same engine offered in the standard Chiron and Chiron Sport. It produces 1500 hp and 1180 lb-ft of torque. Bugatti might also tweak the suspension setup for more crisper handling.
With just a month to go for the Geneva Motor Show, we can’t wait to see what Bugatti has in store for us this year.
