ExcIusive! Porsche 911 Turbo 50th Anniversary edition to debut at Pebble Beach
This year, Porsche is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Turbo. At the Retro Classics show in April, Porsche showcased a range of Turbo models, including the first 911 Turbo “No 1”, which was presented to Louise Piëch on her 70th birthday in 1974.
As part of the 50th anniversary celebrations, Porsche will debut a new special edition 911 Turbo at Pebble Beach on August 16.
According to our sources, the 911 Turbo 50th Anniversary edition is likely to be based on the 992.1 generation 911 Turbo S. At its heart will be a 3.8-liter, twin-turbo flat-6 engine that pumps out 640 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. The engine will be paired with an 8-speed PDK and an all-wheel drive system.
As far as the exterior is concerned, the 911 Turbo 50th Anniversary edition could be offered in a bespoke spec, including some livery options, special badges, and interior trim inspired by the original.
The special edition 911 Turbo will be produced in limited numbers. From what we’ve heard, production is likely to be capped at 1974 units.
