Dyno shows Bugatti Chiron Super Sport makes way more than 1600 hp
Steve Hamilton from ‘The Hamilton Collection’ Youtube channel wanted to verify if his Bugatti Chiron Super Sport actually made 1600 hp. So, he strapped the car to a dyno and did a few pulls. The results confirm that the official figures are way more conservative than the actual horsepower.
Bugatti claims the 8.0-liter W16 quad-turbo engine in the Chiron Super Sport produces 1600 hp at the crank. Well, after the first pass, it was clear that the motor packed a lot more performance than initially thought. As per the dyno figures, it made 1442 hp at the wheels, which, when adjusted for transmission losses (14%) comes to 1675 hp at the crank.
But, that’s not it. The Chiron comes with a special key that puts the car in maximum attack mode, unleashing the full potential of the W16 engine. In top speed mode, the engine delivered 1457 hp. That’s 15 hp more than in normal mode.
For the final run, the hypercar was run in 4th gear instead of 3rd, and the results were simply astounding. The dyno figures showed the Chiron Super Sport made 1492 hp and 1232 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. This translates to a massive 1734 hp at the crank. That’s 134 hp more than the claimed figure and over 200 more than the standard Chiron.
