Drag Race: LaFerrari, McLaren P1 & Porsche 918 Spyder go head-to-head

It’s been more than a decade since the Hypercar Holy Trinity was launched. Over the year, we’ve seen numerous tests where publications have pitted the LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and the Porsche 918 Spyder against each other. Recently, Carwow got a chance to test the trio at a drag strip near Dubai.

The LaFerrari, in this case, the Aperta, was the slowest of the three over a standing quarter-mile. The main reason being, traction or a lack thereof. The McLaren P1 fared well, but it was the 918 Spyder with its all-wheel drive that destroyed the opposition.

Things changed when it was time for a rolling race. The LaFerrari, being the most powerful of the three, took the lead, as the 918’s traction advantage was negated.

The drag races were conducted out in the desert at the Tilal Swaihan drag strip, while the cars were kindly provided by the Supercars Majlis club.
