Drag Race: Hennessey GT350 HPE850 vs a stock Mustang GT500
The Hennessey HPE850 kit transforms the Mustang GT350 into a car that could run circles around a stock GT500.
In a roll race, the supercharged GT350 simply sprints away from the stock GT500. It’s no surprise, as it packs a 5.2-litre V8 engine with a 3.0-litre supercharger that produces 858 hp and 673 lb-ft of torque. Hennessey claims that it will do 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds and will hit the quarter mile in 10.8 seconds.
The Hennessey HPE850 kit also comes with high-flow throttle body, fuel injectors, heat exchanger and a high-flow air induction system. Moreover, just like the stock GT500, Hennessey also offers a warranty.
In comparison, the GT500 is way underpowered. The 5.2-liter, V8 engine makes just 760 hp and 625 lb-ft of torque. It has a 2.65-litre supercharger. However, the GT500 is also claimed to do 0-60 mph in 3.3 seconds.
