Dodge Challenger Demon Teaser #6: Multiplication

In the latest Challenger Demon teaser video, Dodge has detailed the upcoming muscle car’s immense grip and launch capabilities.

Let me give you a quick low down on what to expect.

The Challenger Demon will be the most powerful Dodge product when it arrives on April 12 at the 2017 New York Auto Show. Peak output from the supercharged HEMI V8 will surpass the Hellcat’s 707 hp.

It will come with a host modifications aimed for track use. Moreover, it will be fitted with some of the widest tires available. These are custom 315/40 NITTO NT05R street-legal drag tires that offer a 15 percent larger contact patch compared to those on the Hellcat.

The V8 engine is expected to produce mammoth amounts of torque and it will be the rear tires that will have cope with it. Hence, Dodge has given the Demon a new set of radials that will offer double the grip of the Hellcat.

The Challenger Demon has been designed to destroy the quarter mile. For the 8-speed automatic transmission to survive the forces at launch, Dodge has installed a higher stall speed for the torque converter and a final drive ratio of 3.09.

The modifications result in an 18 percent increase in rear axle torque multiplication and converter torque. The Demon will thus be capable of generating 35 percent more launch force.

More details will be revealed in future Challenger Demon teaser videos. So stay tuned!
