Czinger to challenge records set by Bugatti & Koenigsegg
This year, the Czinger 21C set a new record for production cars at the Goodwood hill climb. However, the California-based supercar maker won’t stop at that and has big ambitions. According to a report, Czinger plans to challenge the records set by brands like Bugatti, Koenigsegg and Hennessey Performance.
Carbuzz spoke with Kevin Czinger, founder of Czinger Vehicles, on the sidelines of the Goodwood Festival of Speed. When asked if this was just the beginning of an all-out global assault on the record books, Czinger said, “Yeah, absolutely. There’ll be a little international trip next year.”
Czinger did not share any exact details of the planned record attempts. However, reports suggest the company might focus on lap records instead of top-speed runs. Therefore, we might see the 21C around some of the legendary racetracks like the Nurburgring and Spa Francorchamps. It currently holds the lap record at Laguna Seca and has also set a quick time at the Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, TX.
The Ciznger 21C certainly has the muscle to challenge the heavyweights of the hypercar industry. It is powered by a mid-mounted, 2.88-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine coupled with an 800 V electric drive. The electric motor drives the front wheels, while the petrol engine powers the rear axle. The combined output is a meaty 1350 hp.
