Chris Harris on Cars: Ferrari 458 Speciale vs Porsche 911 GT3
Chris Harris has been busy filming of late and this time he has come up with a rather interesting comparison. Harris drives the new Ferrari 458 Speciale on a damp race track in Wales. To add a little bit of spice to the mix, he brings along one his favorite sports cars- Porsche 911 GT3 991-gen.

While there’s a hell lot of difference between the performance of both cars, the damp and dreary weather might just even out Ferrari’s advantage. To set things straight, the Ferrari 458 Speciale is a mid-engine V8 supercar with over 600 hp and a mountain of torque. Based on the standard 458, the Speciale is lighter and more sharper. The new Porsche 911 GT3 with its rear-mounted 3.8-liter flat-six engine produces a fraction of the performance but has better traction out of the corners, thanks to a trick rear-wheel steering and a loaded rear-axle.
The Ferrari is one brilliant piece of kit, but that’s if you know a thing or two about driving. The 458 Speciale is no ordinary supercar. Its electric reflexes can be difficult to master on a track but in the hands of Chris Harris, it all looks pretty damn easy. The Porsche on the other hand is much tamer beast. It costs half as much but is more usable, according to Chris. In the end, the 458 Speciale does steal the show. It is without doubt, the best performance supercar in the market today.
