Chevy Corvette C8 makes big power post break-in period
Published on
How much power does the Corvette C8 make post break-in period? Well, Speed Society has the answer.
After the 500 mile break-in period was over, Speed Society put the Corvette C8 on dyno to test how much performance it had gained in its unrestricted mode. It was found that V8 motor’s output jumped from 423 hp to 446 hp, while torque went up from 361 lb-ft to 381 lb-ft. These figures were measured at the wheels.
The Corvette C8’s 6.2-liter V8 engine is restricted to 4000 rpm during the 500 mile break-in period. Post this, the engine redline is raised to 6000 rpm. The instrument cluster also notifies the driver with a new graphic when the car crosses 500 miles.
It’s worth noting that Chevrolet claims that the base Stingray has 490 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque. That’s way more than the test figures.
