Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 top speed run teased ahead of Nurburgring lap
Chevrolet claims that the 2025 Corvette ZR1 can reach a top speed of 215 mph. However, the company now wants to prove that when it comes to outright speed, the ZR1 is right up there among the supercar heavyweights.
Chevy took the Corvette ZR1 to a high-speed test track to see what sort of speed it could achieve in a controlled environment. The teaser video shared by the company shows the car running close to its published top speed of 215 mph. The actual Vmax achieved by the ZR1 will be revealed on October 15.
Chevrolet is also serious about posting a Nurburgring lap time with the new ZR1. While that car will be optimised for downforce, the car used for the top-speed run was the low-drag version without the large rear wing.
The new ZR1 is the most powerful Corvette ever built. It is powered by an LT7 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 featuring a flat-plane crankshaft. It generates 1064 hp and 828 lb-ft of torque and revs to 8000 rpm.
