2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 is no match for the McLaren Artura
Usually, when we compare cars with similar power figures, the matchup is pretty close. Now, a video of the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and the McLaren Artura drag racing has surfaced online.
Race Results
While both cars start on an equal footing, initially the Corvette appears to get a good start and looks like it will pull away from the McLaren. However, about half way in the race, the McLaren starts pulling ahead. The Corvette Z06 meanwhile is unable to keep up with the Artura and eventually falls behind by almost 2 car lengths.
Chevrolet Corvette Z06 : More Details
The Chevrolet Corvette comes with a 5.5-liter V8 engine featuring a flat-plane crank, dual overhead cams and dry sump lubrication. This motor puts out 670 HP and 460 lb-ft of torque.
Further, the naturally-aspirated V8 engine is combined with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. This gearbox sends power to the rear wheels. Chevrolet claims the new Z06 will sprint from 0-60 mph in 2.6 seconds. It can reach a top speed of 195 mph.
McLaren Artura : More Details
On the other side was the McLaren Artura. This car is the first series production hybrid model of the carmaker. The powertrain consists of a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo V6 engine that develops 577 HP and 431 lb-ft of torque. Paired with an electric motor for an additional 97 HP, the combined system output is 671 HP and 531 lb-ft. Additionally there is a 7.4 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that offers a maximum all-electric range of 19 miles. The car comes with a new 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and an e-differential.
