Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray takes on Ferrari & Lamborghini in a drag race
The upcoming Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray is expected to go on sale in the latter half of this year. But a now a new video has surfaced online wherein in we can see the Corvette E-Ray head up against the Ferrari F8 Tributo and the Lamborghini Huracan Evo.
In terms of powertrain, the Corvette E-Ray comes with a 6.2-liter V8 motor. This is supported by an electric motor on the front axle. Combined, the system is good for 665 HP. Here, just the engine develops 495 HP and 470 lb-ft. The 0-60 mph time is a fast 2.5 seconds while the quarter mile time is claimed to be 10.5 seconds. Further the E-Ray boasts of all-electric mode up to 45 mph. Chevrolet calls it Stealth Mode.
What does the video reveal?
You’ll be surprised to know that in this particular race, the Corvette E-Ray bettered the factory numbers. The 1/4th mile was done in 10.4 seconds with a top speed of 129 mph. While the hybrid model got a faster start, the track-tuned model was faster overall.
Not just that, but the E-Ray was faster than both the Italian cars. The Ferrari F8 could manage 10.5 seconds while the Huracan Evo could do a best time of 11.1 seconds.
Other Features of the Corvette E-Ray
In terms of comfort, the E-Ray gets the Magnetic Ride Control 4.0 suspension system. The wheels are shod in Michelin Pilot Sport all-season tires while Pilot Sport 4S summer tires are optional.
Chevrolet is offering owners of this car 14 paint options. The exclusive new colours include Riptide Blue, Seawolf Gray, and Cacti.
In terms of pricing, the 1LZ coupe is priced at US$104,295 while the convertible goes all the way up to US$111,295.
