Hennessey Cadillac Escalade vs Ferrari 488 GTB

Cadillac

Can an 800 HP Hennessey Cadillac Escalade beat a Ferrari 488 GTB?

Time to find out, in the latest video from Hennessey which pits their HPE800 Cadillac Escalade against the Ferrari 488 GTB.

Apparently, it can. In the two runs held at the Pennzoil Proving Grounds, the HPE800 Cadillac Escalade from Hennessey managed to keep the Italian stallion in its rear-view mirror for a while. The 660 hp, 560 lb-ft Ferrari did catch up after the initial shock though, blazing past the burly supercharged SUV. However, it’s still a lot of fun to watch these two unlikely contenders duke it out on a straight stretch of asphalt.

Hennessey Performance reached out to Freedom Supercars for the Ferrari 488 GTB needed to run the drag race test. The membership-based car service offers its members with supercar subscription plans. Check out their services and collection of machines here.

The HPE800 pack leads to an 805 hp power output and 812 lb-ft max torque at the flywheel. At the rear wheels that translates to 745 hp of power. Yep, that’s much more than the number of horses galloping out of the Ferrari’s 3.9-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine. But the Ferrari has less weight to push and is more aerodynamic than the Escalade which is basically an apartment block on wheels.

Things will not turn out this way if these two speed demons are cut loose on a race track. The tuned Escalade will struggle in corners and the Ferrari will show the SUV how it’s done the supercar way.
