Bugatti Tourbillion’s secret compartment hides the “Speed Key”
The Bugatti Veyron and Chiron famously came with a “Speed Key” to unlock the hypercar’s top speed. Similarly, the new Bugatti Tourbillon is also offered with a special key that is hidden in a “secret compartment”.
On the Veyron and Chiron, the slot for this special key was located between the driver’s seat and the door sill. On Tourbillon, it has been moved to a more ergonomic location on the centre console. However, it remains hidden until you pop open the cover.
The tiny compartment blends seamlessly with the C-Line that runs along the centre of the cabin. It has a split cover, which reveals a cubby lined in Alcantara that is about an inch deep. Inside, you find the “Speed Key”, a Bugatti macaron badge and the slot to unlock the full potential of the V16-powered hypercar.
The naturally aspirated 8.3-liter V16 hybrid powertrain delivers 1800 hp. The engine is paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which allows the car to accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 2.0 seconds. With the special key in place, the Tourbillon can reach a top speed of 276 mph.
