Bugatti Mistral speed record was filmed using a Chiron Super Sport
The Bugatti Mistral recently set a new top speed record for an open-top production car. The hypercar clocked 282 mph on the high-speed oval at Automotive Testing Papenburg in Germany. To capture the action, Bugatti needed something that could match the performance of the Mistral. Of course, it had to be another Bugatti.
The Bugatti Mistral was captured in motion with a camera mounted on a Chiron Super Sport – another record-breaking hypercar. A behind-the-scenes video shared by the company shows how the record run was filmed.
Like the Mistral, the Chiron Super Sport is also powered by an 8.0-liter W16 engine that churns out 1600 hp. This low-drag version of the Chiron is built for top speed and has a record of 304.77 mph to its name.
No wonder Bugatti had it as the camera car to film a top-speed record. While the 300+ mph record was set by a slightly modified Chiron SS, even a stock car can reach 257 mph without breaking a sweat.
