Boreham Motorworks Ford Escort Mk1 RS officially revealed

UK-based Boreham Motorworks has revived one of the legendary Ford models from the late 1960s – Escort Mk1 RS.

Boreham says it’s not a restomod but an all-new car – an Escort RS built from the ground up, complete with a new chassis number continuing on from where Ford had left off after production ended. In fact, the bodies were built by Ford Advanced Vehicle Operations in Essex, UK, before it was shut in 1975.

That being said, the engineers at Boreham have made certain changes to the chassis to improve handling. These include extra bracing, reworked suspension, and a new rear axle. The car rides on coilover suspension and has a limited-slip differential.

The Escort RS comes with two engine options: a Twin Cam 1845cc with fuel injection that produces 180 hp. It is paired with a 4-speed gearbox with straight-cut gears.

The other option is a 2.1-liter 4-cylinder unit that revs 10,000 rpm. It produces 292 hp and is paired with a 5-speed dog-leg gearbox.

Boreham Motorworks is building just 150 examples of the Escort Mk1 RS, with a price tag of approximately $376,000 each.
