BMW M5, M8, X5 M & X6 M Recalled for Transmission Wiring issue
Published on
BMW has recalled its M models for a transmission wiring harness issue. As result, the automaker has issued a stop-sale of these models.
According to Bimmerpost, the recall affects models including the M5, M8 Coupe, M8 Convertible and M8 Gran Coupe as well as the X5 M and X6 M SUVs.
It is said that the location and routing of the transmission wiring harness can cause damage to the components. This could cause a short circuit and the transmission could go into neutral while driving. To fix the issue, BMW will be replacing the transmission wiring harness and rerouting it.
