BMW M3: Acceleration and Braking test
GTBoard.com has been out thrashing the latest F80 BMW M3 to its limits and when I say that, I mean actual pedal to the metal stuff. The test car has been fitted with the optional ceramic brake package which gives it additional stopping power. The accelerations are brutal and with DSC switched off the tires do tend to reach their limit of adhesion. And that’s a good thing, especially when laying down elevens’ on Swedish country roads.
The BMW M3 is gets its power from a 3.0-liter straight-six cylinder engine with twin-turbochargers. The setup generates 431 hp and 406 lb-ft delivered to the rear wheels via an optional 7-speed M-DCT or a 6-speed manual. The ceramic brakes are just phenomenal and are able to bring the car to a halt from high speeds within no time. Watch the video and see for yourself.
