Bentayga-Rivaling Mercedes-Maybach SUV to Launch in 2019

Mercedes-Benz is building the ultimate luxury SUV to take on the Bentley Bentayga and the forthcoming Rolls Royce Cullinan. The Mercedes-Maybach SUV will be the crown jewel of the brand and is set for launch in 2019.

The Mercedes-Maybach SUV will be based on the next-generation GLS and will offer Maybach limousine levels of luxury and equipment. The styling will be based heavily on the recently showcased Maybach 6 Coupe concept. So, expect a bold front fascia and a unique Maybach grille up front. Headlights and tail lights will feature the latest LEDs again, unique to the Maybach line.

The Mercedes-Maybach SUV could use an extended-wheelbase version of the GLS. That said, unlike the standard GLS which comes with three-row seating, the high-end luxury model will mostly have seating for 4. Mercedes-Benz are masters at creating the most opulent interiors. The Maybach line takes it one step further. So, expect the usual massage seats with reclining function wrapped the finest quality leather.

The set of engines that could power the Mercedes-Maybach SUV include a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 and a 6.0-liter V12 bi-turbo. 4MATIC all-wheel drive will be standard as will be Mercedes’ finest Air Body Control air-suspension system. That said, a hybrid system is also believed to be under development.
