Audi R8 supercar goes out of production
The Audi R8, the brand’s iconic supercar, is officially dead. Production of the R8 has finally ended with the rollout of the final unit from the Heilbronn plant in Germany.
According to Audi, the final R8 that rolled off the assembly line was a Performance Quattro Edition finished in Vegas Yellow with the carbon fibre exterior package and 20-inch wheels.
Audi had already announced that it was phasing out the R8. The supercar was supposed to go out of production at the end of 2023. But, a surge in orders forced the automaker to extend its production.
Last year, Audi released the R8 GT, a special edition to celebrate the iconic model. In November, tuner ABT Sportline, decided to give the car a proper send-off with the track-focused ABT XGT.
Based on the Audi R8 LMS GT2, the ABT XGT is a road-legal racing car. It is also the last R8 to be powered by the 5.2-liter V10 engine.
