Aston Martin Vanquish-review-Chris Harris-1

Aston Martin

Aston Martin Vanquish is a proper Ferrari rival, says Chris Harris

On paper, the new Aston Martin Vanquish looks like a luxury coupe with a big, powerful engine at the front. However, it’s not just a high-powered GT, as Chris Harris found out.

Harris took the Vanquish to a racetrack and quickly realised how different it was compared to the old DBS. He explains how the car feels stiffer and the steering more direct and sharp. Then there’s the relentless power from the 5.2-liter twin-turbo V12 engine.

“The DBS has become much more athletic. This is a proper Ferrari rival. They’re taking the game to Ferrari,” Harris says.

The 2025 Aston Martin Vanquish is built around a bonded aluminium chassis. It is stiffer and has a longer wheelbase than the DBS 770 Ultimate. While it’s absolutely stunning to look at, the interior has been completely redone to modern standards.

The twin-turbo V12 engine now puts out 824 hp @ 6500 rpm and 738 lb-ft of torque @ 2500-5000 rpm. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and power is sent to the rear axle via an electronic limited-slip differential.

Aston Martin claims the new Vanquish can sprint from 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds and has a top speed of 214 mph.
