Aston Martin Valkyrie sets a blistering lap time at Top Gear Track

The Aston Martin Valkyrie has become the seventh fastest car ever to lap the Top Gear test track. It recently set a blistering lap time in the hands of the tame racing driver, simply known as ‘The Stig’.

The Valkyrie completed the lap in 1 min 09.6 seconds, beating the time set by the Ferrari FXX and the Koenigsegg Jesko Attack. It was 1.7 seconds faster than the Ferrari SF90 Stradale. It’s worth noting that most cars that are above the Valkyrie on the leaderboard are not road legal.

The Valkyrie is designed to be a race car for the road. It sprints off the line and hits 100 mph in around 5 seconds. Looking at the onboard, it doesn’t look like an easy car to drive at speed. You can even see the Stig pushing the ERS button momentarily to deploy the electric energy to the rear axle. Note how the revs rise when ERS is activated.

The Aston Martin Valkyrie is powered by a Cosworth-built 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 mated to a Rimac-sourced KERS hybrid system. Its combined output is 1176 hp, which is channelled to the rear wheels via a 7-speed single-clutch automated manual transmission.
