Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar unveiled ahead of 24 Hours of Le Mans

Aston Martin is returning to the pinnacle of endurance racing with its Valkyrie hypercar. It will compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship this year.

The Aston Martin Valkyrie will compete against brands like Ferrari, Porsche, Toyota, Peugeot, BMW and Cadillac. However, it’s the only competitor that is derived from a road-legal hypercar.

Aston Martin will run two Valkyrie hypercars piloted by Harry Tincknell, Tom Gamble, Marco Sorensen and Alex Riberas in WEC. Ross Gunn and Roman de Angelis will race for the team in IMSA.

The car itself looks very similar to the Valkyrie AMR Pro. However, it has been modified to comply with racing regulations. The 6.5-liter V12 has been de-tuned from 1000+ hp to 680 hp. It is now paired with an Xtrac transmission. The car also gets a single-point rapid refuelling coupling, a high-speed pneumatic jack system and a slightly redesigned cockpit for better ingress and egress.
