Aston Martin DB12 debuts with a revised 671 hp V8

Aston Martin has officially unveiled the DB11 successor, aptly named ‘DB12’. However, the single-digit increment comes with major upgrades on both technology and engine fronts.

The Aston Martin DB12 is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine which now produces 34% more power than the outgoing version. This has been achieved with new camshafts, larger turbos and a reworked cooling system. The peak output of 671 hp and 590 lb-ft is even higher compared to the V12 DB11. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox, which enables the GT to sprint from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds, topping out at 202 mph.

The DB12 shares its underpinnings with its predecessor, but the chassis has been upgraded for 7% higher torsional rigidity. The car comes with adaptive dampers and five drive modes: Normal, Sport, Sport+, Wet and Individual. It is fitted with 21-inch wheels that are said to be 18 lbs lighter as well.

Aston Martin DB12-5

Aston Martins are known for their beautiful designs. The DB12 is no exception. The car gets a larger front grill with reprofiled LED headlamps and a revised front air dam. The vents on the front fenders have been retained, along with the rear fascia which looks similar to the DB11.

The interior has been completely revamped though. The DB12 gets an all-new dashboard replete with a new centre console featuring a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. There’s even a new 3-spoke steering wheel and a fully-digital instrument cluster.

Aston Martin DB12-4

The Aston Martin DB12 is expected to go on sale in Q3 2023. The carmaker is yet to announce the pricing.
