All-new Audi RS7 might swap its V8 for a V6 plug-in hybrid

The Audi RS7, the brand’s next-generation flagship wagon, might switch to a plug-in hybrid setup. According to a new report, Audi is likely to swap the twin-turbo V8 with an electrified V6.

As you may be aware, the Audi RS6 Avant is being rebadged as the RS7. It will still be available in sedan and estate body styles. Reports suggest that it will feature a V6 plug-in hybrid producing around 725 hp under the hood, with an additional 50 hp available via the ‘Boost’ function.

The RS7 might also get a Performance variant with even more horsepower. It is estimated to have around 800 hp – almost 100 hp more than its main rival, the BMW M5. The Bavarian super sedan also has a plug-in hybrid under the hood. However, it has an electrified V8 that makes 717 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque.

The pure electric version will be called the RS6. It will also be offered as a sedan and station wagon and will feature dual electric motors producing around 630 hp.
