Aston Martin AM-RB 001 Supercar Previewed at Monaco
Aston Martin gave a preview of their new supercar code named AM-RB 001 to prospective customers in Monaco last week.
A scale model of the upcoming supercar was on display at a private gathering hosted by Aston Martin for a select group of individuals on the sidelines of the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix.
“We have a full-sized model of the surfaces as they stand, which is going through regulatory validation, so we’re checking things such as seat position, eye position and visibility,” Aston Martin boss Andy Palmer told Autocar.
What is the AM-RB 001?
The AM-RB 001 supercar has been jointly developed by Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing. It’s being heralded as the “next-gen hypercar” to rival the likes of the LaFerrari, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder.
It is believed that the AM-RB 001 is being styled along the lines of an LMP1 race car. So, we can expect to see an aggressive aerodynamic package with familiar Aston Martin design cues.
Aston Martin will be doing the aesthetics. Adrian Newey of Red Bull Racing on the other hand will be taking care of the technical bits.
According Palmer, the car uses an F1-derived petrol-electric hybrid system complete with performance boosting electric motors and energy recovery systems. About 100 AM-RB 001s are planned each costing in the millions.
