Audi TT RS Coupe and Roadster Revealed
The new Audi TT RS has been revealed at the 2016 Beijing Auto Show. The 400 hp Audi is also available as a Roadster.
Much like the Porsche 718 Cayman, the internet was quite excited about the new TT RS and now that it here, we can tell some juicy details about it.
The new Audi TT RS uses a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine which makes 395 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. That’s 50 hp more than the new Cayman. Add to that, the TT RS is four-wheel drive and it’s lightweight. Clearly, then in terms of performance, the TT RS trounces the Cayman S in a straight line.
Thanks to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission and launch control, 0-62 mph is over in 3.7 sec. In fact, it’s just 0.2 sec slower than an Audi R8! Top speed is limited to 155 mph or Audi will raise it to 175 mph for an additional amount.
The new model looks rather striking too. Flared wheel arches have been the design highlight of the TT. With the aggressive front end and the chiseled looks, the new TT RS looks even better. The car sits lower to the ground by 10 mm.
Adaptive suspension makes sure the stiff setup does not break driver’s spine when out on public roads. However, it’s a pretty serious track car given the fact that it comes with ceramic brakes as standard.
Moreover, the Audi TT RS Roadster weighs 90 kg more than the coupe but shares the same engine and drivetrain. As a result, the TT RS soft-top hits 62 mph in under 4 sec.
