2016 Geneva Motor Show: McLaren 570GT
McLaren has added a new model to their Sports Series line up. It is called the McLaren 570GT and it’s a little bit comfy and little more practical than the 570S. But, will it be any better than the most usable everyday sports car- the Porsche 911?
The McLaren 570GT is a sports car that can be used for your daily commute to work. It still has the same 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 but it is quieter than the 570S. The suspension has been softened for a more pliant ride.
Moreover, the 570GT comes with more storage space behind the seats which can be accessed by lifting the glass cover. For the sake of practicality and better ergonomics, the glass cover flips open from one side. Another unique feature is the panoramic roof that extends all the way from the windshield to the rear decklid. The glass roof gives the cabin an airy feel. With an 18 percent tint, the glass roof is also treated with a special film that absorbs solar radiation as well provide sound insulation.
Like the 570S, the new McLaren 570GT gets a well appointed interior wrapped in premium leather. The center console features large touchscreen display connected to a 12-speaker Bower & Wilkins audio system. All the minor changes have resulted in a slightly heavier car, still the 562 hp and 433 lb-ft V8 engine is capable of accelerating the 570GT to a top speed of 204 mph. Acceleration from 0-60 mph is tad slower at 3.4 sec compared to the 570S.
The new McLaren 570GT is built for long journeys. It offers comfort and practicality without compromising on performance. Prices for the 570GT start at $198,950.
