Richard Hammond would buy a Dacia Duster over a Ferrari Purosangue
Ex-Top Gear host Richard Hammond recently had a go in the Ferrari Purosangue. In his review, Hammond mentions that Ferrari’s first SUV is mighty powerful and feels light and nimble. However, he still doesn’t get the point of a half-a-million-dollar 4-seater Ferrari with a big V12 engine up front.
The Purosangue is certainly an expensive bit of kit, and Hammond rightly points out the myriad of preposterously expensive options available on the car. The Ferrari shields alone cost over 9 grand, while the special exterior paint is 22 grand.
Then there’s the engine. The Purosangue is powered by a 6.5-liter V12 that develops 725 hp and 528 lb-ft of torque @ 6250 rpm. It is hooked up to an 8-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Ferrari claims a 0-62 mph time of 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 193 mph.
Still, Hammond feels he would rather spend his 500 grand on a Dacia Duster and a house than a Ferrari Purosangue.
Chris Harris also drove the Purosangue recently. Check out the review here.
