Alpine A110 R Ultime spotted testing in Spain ahead of launch

Alpine is working on a limited-edition, extreme version of the A110. Expected to be called the Alpine A110 R Ultime, the new model will make its public debut at the Paris Motor Show.

Ahead of its official unveiling, a test mule of the A110 R Ultime has been spotted in Spain. This is the first time a prototype has been seen in public, revealing some of the modifications made to the car.

The Alpine A110 R Ultime looks like an evolution of the A110 R, with subtle changes to the aero package. The front end has a familiar design, featuring a sporty bumper with a set of canards on either side and a splitter. The bonnet, with its large extractor vent and nostrils, also looks similar to the A110 R.

The rear bumper has a large diffuser and a central exhaust. While this setup again looks similar to the A110 R, the aero surfaces on the sides are much larger. One of the most notable changes though, is the rear wing, which on the Ultime is a top-mounted unit with a gurney flap. The car is also fitted with lightweight wing mirrors.

The A110 Ultime could use a revised 1.8-litre, turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, producing 340 hp. It will be paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox that is also said to have been tweaked. The car is said to weigh around 1040 kg.

We’ve been told that Alpine plans to build 110 examples of the A110 Ultime, with a price tag of €250,000 a piece.
