Even though it has been one of the best-kept secrets in the industry, we know that McLaren is working on the P1 successor. The next-generation hypercar is expected to debut early next month.
Earlier today, McLaren released a video about the P1 featuring Fleet Operations Manager Maurizio Zagarella. He talks about how the P1, like its predecessor, the legendary McLaren F1, “pushed the limits of what was possible.” He ends by saying, “And we’re still pushing to find out.”
We believe McLaren is hinting at the P1 successor through this video, and we can expect to see the first official teaser soon.
It is said that the P1 successor (codenamed: P18) will be powered by an all-new high-revving V8 engine. The internal combustion engine will be paired with a new hybrid system with technologies derived from Formula 1. The combined output could be around 1200 hp.
Production of the new-gen hypercar is likely to be capped at 399 units.
