Adrian Newey’s Red Bull RB17 hypercar officially breaks cover
Red Bull F1 designer Adrian Newey has revealed his latest creation that you and I can actually buy. If you have $5 million lying in your bank account, you can sign up for an experience like no other, as the Red Bull RB17 hypercar promises Formula 1 levels of performance, in a package that’s more accessible for those without a Super License.
The RB17 has been designed to go around a racetrack in the quickest way possible and Newey has more than enough experience to create such a machine. The shapes you see have been meticulously sculpted for optimal downforce with little drag penalty. It even has F1-style side pods, in-board active suspension and a blown diffuser.
Overall, the RB17 reminds us of the Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro, just a more extreme version of that. It is more than 5 meters long and 2 meters wide. Red Bull is targeting a weight of around 900 kg and 1700 kg of downforce at 150 mph.
Powering the RB17 is a Cosworth-built 4.5-liter V10 engine that revs to 15,000 rpm and delivers 986 hp. Additionally, a 197 hp electric motor takes over at low speeds and assists the engine with torque-fill. The transmission is designed and assembled in-house and is said to provide instant shifts like an F1 car.
The Red Bull RB17 will make its dynamic debut in the summer of 2025.
