Rolls-Royce Spectre Flippers will be permanently blacklisted

Rolls-Royce CEO Torsten Müller-Ötvös has told the media that the company will not entertain Flippers. Those intending to sell their cars for a profit are known as Flippers. This is especially the case when the vehicle is a limited edition model or has very few allocations.

As per the CEO, anyone caught Flipping the Spectre will receive a permanent blacklist. This means they will never be able to purchase a new Rolls-Royce.

Flippers usually focus on models that are manufactured in less numbers or those with limited production run. It is reported that high end cars once sold out start increasing in value when the production is stopped. This increases their value and Flippers sell the earlier acquired cars for a profit.

Car companies vs Flippers

This is not the first time that any car manufacturer has expressed such bans on Flippers. Porsche for instance keeps an eye on Flippers and limits the allocation of special cars to such entities.

A while back, General Motors announced that customers who sell their Corvette Z06 in under 12 months will have the warranty on the car’s certain parts reduced. Further, such customers will not be able to get any allocations for future GM cars.

One of the arguments against Flippers is the fact that they reduce the car’s reach to genuine customers. Further, those wanting to purchase in the used car market have to contend with jacked up rates.
