One-off Porsche 911 Classic Club Coupe sells for $1.2 million

The Porsche 911 Sport Classic is one of the most sought-after versions of the 911 today. Inspired by the iconic Carrera RS 2.7 from 1973, Porsche built 250 units based on the 997 generation.

More recently, the 992-gen was also offered in the limited edition Sport Classic flavour. That being said, there was a little-known one-off Porsche built based on the 996-gen – the 911 Classic Club Coupe restomod.

The 911 Classic Club Coupe is based on a 1999 Carrera. Someone just paid $1.2 million for it, and here’s why.

What started life as a simple Carrera was transformed into a one-off restomod by Porsche Classic and Porsche Club of America. The stock 3.4-liter flat-6 engine was swapped out for a 3.8-litre unit from the GT3, giving it a meaty 381 hp. The engine was mated with a slick 6-speed manual gearbox. Porsche also replaced the stock brakes and suspension.
