Gordon Murray’s GMA T.33 Spider officially revealed
Gordon Murray Automotive has taken the wraps off the open-top version of the T.33 supercar, the T.33 Spider. Only 100 examples will be built at a cost of around $2.2 million each.
The GMA T.33 is the second model in the UK-based supercar maker’s portfolio. The T.33 Spider looks as beautiful as the coupe and features two removable roof panels.
The T.33 Spider is based on a lightweight carbon fibre monocoque. It also features carbon body panels to keep weight to a minimum.
Don’t let the supercar’s clean exterior design fool you, though. The T.33 Spider’s Passive Boundary Layer Control (PBLC) system relies on underbody ducting in combination with a rear diffuser to deliver efficient aero compared to conventional ground effects supercars. It also gets an active rear spoiler and a carbon roof scoop.
Like the coupe, the Spider’s interior is simple yet functional. It comes with a sporty steering wheel with a single, large, analogue tachometer in the centre and carbon seats trimmed in Alcantara.
At the heart of the T.33 Spider is GMA’s 3.9-liter V12 engine developed by Cosworth. It develops 609 hp @ 10,250 rpm, with 90% of the maximum torque (399 lb-ft) available from 4,500-10,500 rpm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.
