Hennessey teases imminent Venom F5 top speed run
A few days ago, we had reported that the speed run of the Hennessey Venom F5 was scheduled for February 15, 2022. The Texas-based hypercar maker had confirmed this on Instagram before deleting the post. They have now shared a teaser suggesting that the record run is imminent.
Exactly 8 years ago, the Venom GT entered the record books by posting a one-way speed of 270.4 mph. The record stands even today, making the Venom GT the fastest road car with a manual transmission.
Hennessey Performance is now looking to improve on their previous record, but this time, in the Venom F5. The car is expected to breach the 300 mph barrier, beating the Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ in the process. The company’s internal simulations suggest that the car could even reach speeds in excess of 311 mph.
This can only be achieved with the 6.6-liter twin-turbo V8 firing on all cylinders. It packs 1817 hp and 1193 lb-ft of torque, which should be sufficient to accelerate the car to dizzying speeds.
